Our thesis project, “Lost,” is a 3D short narrative animation that doesn’t happen in a particular place or in a specific time. The theme is about the pursuit of freedom with a boy living in a city surrounded by stone walls. The stone walls are so tall that nobody knows there is an outside world. Besides the wall, an acrid gray haze hangs over the city. Lots of crows hover in the sky as if they are monitoring people. People in the city repeat the same life and work every day. They never try to think about something new.
We chose this topic because it relates to my own experience and the development of modern society. With the development of contemporary society, people would like to work together to be more efficient. People have to communicate with others and cooperate with them to accomplish one goal. Then the rules appeared. Rules helped people work as a team. Regulations play an essential role in modern society. They also work well in cases like controlling traffic. They help our life to be convenient and safe. However, every coin has two sides, and rules also restrict our lives.
Nowadays, human beings take lots of time to obtain a powerful skill in mind with a concentration on spiritual development. It is time to enter into the new level as the creature on the earth, which is the main issue implied in the animation.
